When it comes to becoming the best version of yourself, a healthy lifestyle can go a long way. Nutritious eating, frequent exercise and a good skincare routine can do wonders, but even if you put in all the hard work, sometimes, the results aren’t exactly what you’d expect.
Loose skin and fat deposits that just don’t seem to shift can really put a dampener on your self-esteem. Sometimes, we need a little bit of help to get the end look we desire, and body contouring is one of the most reliable modern techniques for fat removal in Melbourne.
This blog will explain what this process entails, including how it works, the types of treatments you can choose from and how to choose the right service for your needs.
What is body contouring exactly? As the name implies, this technique involves the use of different technologies and treatments to change the shape and appearance of your body. It is commonly used in conjunction with other methods of weight loss to tighten loose skin or remove smaller deposits of fat that just don’t want to shift on their own.
Body contouring can either be an invasive or a non-invasive procedure. At Bimini Body, we offer effective non-invasive procedures for our clients interested in body contouring; although we will discuss more traditional surgeries below so that you have a complete overview of the options available.
The terms ‘body contouring’ and ‘body sculpting’ can be used interchangeably to mean the same thing, but some people will define them differently. Here are some of the differences you’ll see across the industry:
At Bimini Body, we use the term’ sculpting’ as part of our body contouring process. Our team will ‘sculpt’ your body using a variety of contouring techniques to help you get the silhouette and definition you’ve always dreamt of.

At Bimini Body, we have a great range of body contouring methods available for our clients. Before any of our body contouring treatments, we recommend you have an Inbody Composition Scan. This quick and painless scan can measure your bone density, muscle mass, water content, and the percentage of body fat you have, and can be quite illuminating! It can also inform us of the best areas to target our treatments with.

High-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) is our first non-invasive body contouring procedure and is touted as an effective alternative to surgical liposuction. HIFU Lipocel uses focused ultrasound waves to target fat cells and break them down. Here is the process for how this treatment works at Bimini Body:
Treatment can take between thirty minutes and an hour and a half, depending on the size of the area and if you are having multiple areas targeted.
HIFU is a pain-free treatment with no downtime–you can get up, walk out and drive home as soon as you’re finished in our clinic.
You will see immediate results, but more obvious ones will emerge a few months after your treatment. Please note that multiple treatments may be needed to get the results you want.
Building visible muscle tone usually involves a lot of hard work in the gym or on the field, but not everyone has the time and money to dedicate to this process. Luckily, Stimsure is here to help!
This ingenious treatment uses electrical impulses to make your muscle fibres expand and contract, just like they do when you exercise. In fact, you can expect up to 24,000 contractions to be delivered in one thirty minute session! And just like with exercise, these contractors cause ‘micro tears’, which, when repaired, cause your muscles to look more defined and become stronger.
Stimsure muscle building can also be used to help treat muscle separation, like the abdominal muscle separation that can occur during pregnancy. While this condition can heal on its own, you may find it difficult to devote the time needed to recovery when you have a newborn!
This pain-free treatment will give you visible results after just a few weeks when your treatment plan has finished. Again, multiple sessions may be required depending on your goals.
We know that heat can damage fat cells, but what about cold? Cryolipolysis refers to using colder temperatures to kill subcutaneous fat cells under the skin, as skin and muscle can tolerate lower temperatures than fat. This allows us to target fat cells while leaving the beneficial skin and muscle fibres intact.
Here is how the Coolslimming process works at Bimini Body:
Once the fat cells have been removed, they are gone permanently! However, it is important to maintain a healthy lifestyle, as your body could still generate new fat cells in their place.
Now that you know a bit more about some of the treatments available at our clinic for body contouring in Melbourne, make sure to read up on them in more detail via our treatments page. Fat removal treatments, like the HIFU Liopcel and Coolslimming Cryolipolysis treatments, destroy fat cells so they are gone for good. Your lymphatic system will whisk them away permanently. However, these treatments don’t prevent your body from making new fat cells in their place. It’s important to eat mindfully so your body isn’t forced to store excess energy as fat.
Our Stimsure muscle-building treatments can help you get the definition you’re looking for, but just like building muscle through exercise, you’ll need to continue exercising and staying healthy to maintain it.
When applied by a professional, like those at Bimini Body, body contouring shouldn’t be painful at all. Some treatments, like Coolslimming, can cause some mild discomfort at the start, and you may have a bit of bruising and redness after certain treatments. But on the whole, no anesthesia is needed for these treatments, and you can resume life normally straight away once your session is complete.
The number of sessions you need for a successful body contouring experience will depend on the area of the body you are focusing on, how much fat there is to remove and the type of treatment you are using. Smaller areas, like under the chin, may be faster to sculpt than larger areas, like the stomach or buttocks. During the initial consultation, our team can estimate how many sessions it will take to achieve the results you’re after.
